Mathew B.Tully - Host
Mathew B. Tully is the host of the Tully Rinckey Legal Power Hour. Mat is known for tackling tough topics and applying his unique viewpoint to the legal and political issues affecting the Capital Region of New York State.
Mat relocated to upstate New York with his wife after escaping from the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Since, he has founded his own law firm and established himself as a prominent attorney on both a local and national level.
Mat is a recognized leader in the field of military law and has won several landmark cases that have greatly influenced the rights afforded to veterans, including Hernandez v. Department of the Air Force, Collins v. Department of the Agriculture, and Pucilowski v. Department of Justice. He has successfully represented clients in front of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
Mat’s legal expertise is recognized through his role as a syndicated columnist for the Army Times. His column, “Ask the Lawyer,” reaches millions of readers each month. On a local level, Mat serves as the legal columnist for the Saratogian. He is frequently called upon by local and national media outlets to provide his insight and commentary on legal matters.
In addition to his legal career, Mat serves as a Major in the New York Army National Guard. In 2005, Mat was deployed with the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division to Iraq, where he served until 2006.
Before his legal career, Mat served as a federal law enforcement officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He has continued his dedication to law enforcement through his volunteer position as the head of a countywide law enforcement entity. Mat is a New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services certified instructor in police general topics, OC spray, and firearms. He regularly teaches at local police academies.
A native of New York, Mat grew up in Massapequa Park, NY and currently lives in Niskayuna, NY with his wife and son.
